Psychotherapy and Counseling Services

How can I help you?

While there are myriad reasons people seek therapy, the following are some of the more common:

Why am I so unhappy?
Why do I feel so unmotivated?
The only emotion I feel is anger.
Should I make a career change?
I want to stop this behavior, but I can't.
Is this the right person to marry?
Why do I have so many problems in my relationships?
I am afraid all of the time.
I have nightmares and I don't know why.
It happened to me in my past, but I can't seem to get beyond it.
Why do others respond to me the way they do?
I don't know why I'm in so much emotional pain.
Am I crazy for thinking this?
Am I an alcoholic?
When does someone know if they're addicted to drugs?
I have secrets about food and I'm scared.
I can't stop crying.
I can't seem to get out of bed.
I am powerless and ineffective in my own life.
I don't trust myself to make decisions any more.

You may have found your personal angst or question in the above list and maybe you didn't. But whatever your issue is, I believe you have the answer to it, it's just a matter of finding the right tools.

Jan Anderson, MA, LPC, NCC

Licensed Professional Counselor

My approach to therapy is a team effort. I understand that my role is to help my clients find their way to a happier, more peaceful life and I consider it a privilege to be allowed to be a witness and a support on their journey. Education is just a part of what works in therapy, the other part is acceptance, humor and rapport. I work hard to establish that type of experience for my clients.

I have been working with special populations since 2001. I have worked with severely low cognitive abilities, learning disabilities, anxiety, depression, spectrum disorders, speech and language disorders, Tourette's, ADHD, and emotional disturbance. I have a keen interest in helping kids be their optimal selves by reducing, and in many cases eliminating behaviors that negatively impact them in their family unit, at school with their peers and when out in public.

Adults typically seek me out for: anxiety, IBS, depression, OCD, PTSD, pain, addictions, balance, memory issues or who are in high performance areas including the arts and athletic competitions and want an edge on their competitors. I also see people who are wanting alternative, non-invasive treatments for various issues.

Servicing students, teachers, administrators and parents from AISD, LISD, RRISD, PFISD, and LHISD.

Reaching out for counseling services can be a daunting task. You may feel worried about being in the spotlight, or start to question whether anyone can really
understand what you are going through. Managing issues such as anxiety,
depression, trauma, negative self- esteem, or relationships can be an isolating
experience. It doesn’t have to be done alone.

I believe that therapy is a collaborative process where we can work together to
gain insight into both your struggles and strengths. Using compassion, understanding, and clinical experience I aim to uncover my client’s innate ability to find growth and fulfilment in their lives.

I understanding how overwhelming counseling can initially feel. Seeking help is
an act of courage. With this in mind I work hard to create a safe, comfortable,
and judgment free environment for my clients.
